Report from his foster family:"This is Leon (aka 'Leo') a one year old handsome male dog whom we have fostered for three months. He was hit by a vehicle in mid February and his right front leg was broken. He was placed with us in foster care immediately after his leg surgery in order to avoid returning him to a stressful, over crowded local shelter. He has since fully recovered and has been neutered. Leo weighs 50 lbs and is an exuberant, energetic puppy who loves to play hard with our two dogs, go for walks, car rides, but mostly hanging around the house staying close to where ever the action seems to be. We have had a lot of dogs over the years and Leo has been one of the easiest. People who have interacted with him have repeatedly used 'well adjusted' to describe him. We like it that he responds appropriately when told 'no'. He would definitely be best in a home with at least one other dog to play with, show him the ropes and help burn off that abundant puppy energy! If the two other dogs tire out and need a break, Leo has been content to entertain himself with his dog toys. Leon is curious about everything but not adventuresome, can be mildly timid with strangers and will briefly bark at expected noises but is generally a quiet, very observant dog. He is lovingly playful with humans, dogs and likes the cats more than they like him. He would be okay with older children, but younger, smaller children would be at risk of being knocked down when he plays. He is STRONG. Leo is not crate trained. Similar to our other two dogs, he uses disposable pee pads inside or goes when supervised outside. It should be an easy transition to fenced in yard with maybe a doggy door. Leo walks satisfactorily on a leash and likes to stay close to his family/pack. He knows 'sit' and 'down' and 'wait' and is working on other commands." Please contact us with any questions or to set up a time to meet sweet Leon. A big thank you to all who supported his journey and helped us get here!
